At thirty-five, Dieter is a Journeyman with the Order of Magic in Altdorf, who served with distinction in the Storm of Chaos, fighting the demonic invasion of Middenheim with his Master, who died during the fighting. Having been granted special dispensation to take Amendil on as an apprentice (a vote of confidence by the Wizard Lords of the Order, and a sign of the desperately thin forces remaining sane and capable in the aftermath of Lord Archaon), Dieter has spent the past four years amongst the Elves of Laurenlos, learning their ways alongside his apprentice. Now, an urgent magical summons brings him back to Middenheim.
