In Nomine Redux: Genesis

The first movie produced with an actual budget, In Nomine Redux: Genesis tells the story of In Nomine Redux issues #1-12. Eliminating the time travel plotline, the movie instead focuses on INRI's struggle to remove himself from the Clockwork King's influence and subsequent sacrifice during the final showdown with the Knives of Artemis. Only Sanctity's quick-thinking retrieval of his 'Sacred Spirit Matrix' prevents INRI's personality from being completely destroyed, although the movie ends with ambiguity as to INRI's final fate: Sanctity refuses to let the priests perform the Last Rites over the Matrix, and leaves the Vatican swearing to find someone that can rebuild INRI.

Issues

Many fans feel that a romantic relationship between INRI and Sanctity is developed in this movie, pointing to a distinct lack of Ignorant Mass' presence. Opponents point out that INRI's voice has no inflection, so these readings are ultimately 'deranged' and 'terrifyingly close to robot porn'^{1 - link pending}. Others point to scenes that are 'not understood' by fans that missed the Sacntity/Iggy marriage storyline, saying that there are several instances where Sanctity pauses to look at her left hand. This is perhaps the most contested ground for INRI/Sanctity 'shippers' vs. Iggy/Sanctity ones, and often ignites flame wars on the forums.

Mike Montoya, who worked as a creative consultant for the movie, has only said, "They paid me gobs of money and hired famous actors; I closed my eyes, covered my ears, and giggled like a schoolgirl." He categorically refuses to answer any questions regarding the movies, except to add: "There are strange, sick people in the world. Most of them live in Hollywood."
