Josef is an angry young man with a chip on his shoulder. Although he did not serve in the actual fighting of the Al-Ulric Riot, he took advantage of the confusion to act in an unseemly manner, which only ended up getting him in trouble when things evened out. Now, he travels with the pilgrims, bullying the weaker ones to give him food and other possessions. Naturally, he is the one others suspect for anything that goes wrong in the caravan.
