Appearance and Personality

Maia's 18 years old, medium height and fit if a little thin. She has bright red hair and freckles. Her green eyes have seen a lot of disappointment in her life. Despite this, she is quite an attractive woman.

Pre-Game History

Maia knows little about her family, but what she does know isn't very good. All through her childhood, her spend many of her weekends with her family with her "uncle Penn". She didn't know what her parents would do for Uncle Penn, but every couple of weeks, she would find herself in the play room at Penn's house, where her "aunts" and "uncles" would go and talk in the basement, sometimes coming upstairs to play with her. The adults would tell her stories about magic and mystery. They would preform little tricks for her, and she loved them. Because of this childhood, she didn't have as many friends as other kids her age. She would daydream about dragons, magic, vampires and spirits. When she was old enough to read, she'd spend most of her time reading fantasy, among other stories. She remembered seeing many adults during this time, each one trying to teach her something new, whether it was simple tricks, or to teach her strange fantastic histories, they would come in and try. Each time they would leave disappointed for some reason. Uncle Penn never was disappointed, and he would always spend at least some of every visit playing, story telling, or doing tricks.

One day, when Maia was 13, Uncle Penn called her after school. Her parents weren't home from work yet, so she left a note for her parents, and went to her uncle's house. When she got there, Uncle Penn invited her into his basement. Maia had never seen the basement before. That was where her parents and Uncle Penn spent most of their time. Descending the stairs, she was covered in a purple glow. The walls were made of iron, and the room was hexagonal, with a strange design on the floor. Maia cautiously followed her "uncle" into the room.

"Maia," he spoke to the walls, not looking at the girl, "I'm sorry, but you're a failure. This is probably my fault, really. I should have taken a greater interest in the conception. I will remember for next time." He said, in a matter of fact way. He sounded disappointed, not in her, but in himself. "Why couldn't you have been like your parents? Why did you fail so utterly at life? I should dispose of you and start again..." he trailed off, and stared at the walls. Maia couldn't move, transfixed by this man, who she had looked up to her whole life.

"But, you're a beautiful girl, none the less. I would hate to simply lose you. No, your loss would not only set back my research, but would deprive me of a very attractive woman..." He trailed off and turned toward Maia. Deep down, Maia felt sick. Like the ground beneath her had just fallen out from under her. But there was something else there, as the moment she felt the worst of the nausea, Penn spoke a word she'd never heard before, moved his hands and said "Love."

Maia's feet finally got the ability to move after that. She felt strangely drained, but she didn't care. She felt sick, gross and needed to escape. She ran. She ran as far as she could. She hid wherever she could. She spent the next week running, hiding. The fact that no one came looking for her worried her in the back of her mind, so finally she decided to go home. Strangely her key didn't work anymore. She pounded on the door. Her mother came to the door.

"Yes?" she asked, as Maia started to hug her and cry.

"What's wrong little girl? What's wrong? Why are you hugging me?" She asked, surprised.

"Mom?" Maia asked.

"I'm sorry... I don't have children." She said before prying Maia off her. "Please. Please go away, you're making me uneasy." She closed the door in her face, as Maia cried.

Over the next few days, weeks, and months, Maia tried to figure out what had happened. All of her things appeared in the garbage behind her house, so she grabbed everything that she could carry, and took it with her. She tried going to school, but her teachers didn't remember her, and she didn't have many friends. She went to the police, but when they went to investigate, they returned and accused her spreading lies and of attacking the man. She spent her first (but not her last) night in a holding cell.

While living on the street, moved from gang to gang, using anything she could to stay safe. She picked up ways to stay safe, and slowly gained people she could rely on. As she aged, she got more and more beautiful. She's been in and out of juvie/holding cells since she started living on the street for many reasons, from prostitution to trafficking to weapons charges. She always manged to get out.
