What to say...

Rupert is basically your ground down, alcoholic PI with a sometimes-questionable work ethic. After being used as the scapegoat for a botched CSIS investigation some time ago, Rupert took a PI certificate course and did his best to distance himself from the agency.

With certification in hand, he came to the Waterloo Region and set up a practice. Spying for housewives who've grown suspicious of their husbands and assisting the occasional police investigation is all Rupert ever ends up doing. With such career prospects, his future shattered, and no friends, it's no wonder that Rupert ended up turning to the bottle for comfort. Slowly and steadily, he became more dependent on alcohol to escape the misery that was his life, and allowed himself to live in relative squalor. On numerous occasions, Rupert had even accepted some very unorthodox tokens of gratitude from the odd lonely housewife.
