The Shrine to Those in the Clearing is one of the few non-First Age buildings constructed in all of Ahm. It was built over an ancient shaft, and as the dead are interred, a deep staircase is being built around the side of the shaft, spiralling down deeper. Here, the bodies of the dead are stored in reliefs set into the wall of the shaft, with more ornate reliefs being considered "good" for the local population. Offerings for the dead are thrown into the shaft. Since the stairway takes a long time to construct, it is impossible to know what is actually down the shaft, and local superstition states that at the bottom is a hole to the underworld.
