History

Some eight-hundred years ago, Sigros became the first lodge that the clans of Jormand shared. It was built shortly after a great war against invaders from across the sea, on the very battlefield where the clans finally managed to push them back. It was built as a meeting place for all of the clan lords to discuss strategy and protection of the lands against outside forces. It's name, meaning "Victory's Rose", was meant to represent the new friendships and respect between the traditionally warring clans which had developed as a result of their shared victory over outside forces. Thus no clan was allowed to lay single claim on the lodge, or the lands surrounding it, and battles within this area were seen as the worst kind of blasphemy and treachery.

Predictably, it became a well-supplied trading post for the clans. Goods and tradesmen of every kind could be found nearby, enjoying the protection of this sacred neutral ground. Temples and shrines to each god and totem spang up nearly overnight to offer gratitude for their support in the war and so that their followers could spread their own beliefs free of persecution. Soon food and water demands in the area grew to such an extent that those supplying Sigros were declared (by unanimous agreement of the clan lords) to be considered protected whether on the sacred ground, gathering supplies elsewhere, or travelling in between. The neutral haven grew and expanded, and thus the first permanent settlement of the clans came to be.

In the hundreds of years since it's founding Sigros has remained a safe haven for the people of Jormand. Law still prohibits the shedding of blood between brothers within the city and it's lands, although other invaders have discovered that such laws do not apply to them. As the large settlement posed a tempting target for barbarian and nomad tribes, as well as the goblins of the hills and even giants of the mountains, the lodge became a garissoned fort in order to protect it's people. Small wars were waged against the city. All were pushed back by the might of the united clans. In time, with the discovery of better masonry and ideas brought from other lands, the fort was replaced with a stout castle. Finally, a mere century ago, the clans finally became united under the banner of one king and ruler. Sigros became the seat of power for all of Jormand.

Today

Today the city thrives and grows. It is the axis on which all of Jormand turns, the center around which it revolves. All kinds of goods and services from across the land can be found here, as well as work and training. The current king, King Feldron the Second, son of Corin, resides and rules from Sigros from within the castle.
