The Whispers is a mist-soaked forest that lurks outside of Ahm's borders, and the barbarians within are the reason Ahm's lumber and agriculture industry does not expand. They are vicious, bloodthirsty, and will fight to the death against any attempt to harvest their lumber. How the barbarians survive in the wood, which is mostly swamp within, is a mystery to most members of the city. Inside, however, a large plethora of life persists. Some of the herbs that the barbarians gather are traded for supplies the barbarians demand: mostly fresh water.
