Personality and Appearance
Wilma is an outgoing woman. She has little time for social niceties; if prompted to speak, she will answer swiftly and honestly - sometimes harshly. This makes her an good joker and speaker, but not so great at making friends. She also has stringent demands on those she befriends. Women are often "too soft" for Wilma's tastes, and men are usually either "weak-willed" or "full of their own macho bullshit". Between her often-angry outlook on life, and her tendency to want to solve problems with violence, Wilma has found herself held back in life, particularly in her work. Wilma enjoys maintaining herself physically, and works out almost every day (unless she is working).
Wilma is an athletic, tall (6') woman of German descent. She has dark blonde hair that she keeps cut short and slicked back. Her "neutral" face is a vague expression of anger/disapproval.
Pre-Game History
Wilma never knew her mother. She knew that her mother had been her father's second wife, but Ellen Petersen vanished from her life when Wilma was only a year old. William, her father, always had a sadness about him when he spoke about Ellen, and so Wilma never pushed the subject.
Wilma was always a brash girl, and that didn't change much when she grew up. The younger sister of four brothers, Wilma grew up in a rough-and-tumble family that was always taught to work as hard as they played - and to play hard. Wilma constantly pitted herself against her brothers, and was never satisfied until she won. This same competitive spirit spilled over into her school life, though never in her school work. She couldn't stand the dullness of a classroom, and rarely paid much attention - but on the field, she was leagues above her classmates. She dreamed of becoming an Olympic athlete, although she knew in her heart that it was an impossible dream. Her family simply couldn't afford the trainers necessary to prepare her.
When Wilma was fifteen, her father decided to pursue his dream job and join the firefighters. Unfortunately, that same year, he was involved in a car accident that left him lame in one leg. Destined to be confined to a desk, he instead went back to working as an insurance salesman. However, he never lost his honorable spirit. Wilma decided that day that she would grow up to be a firefighter.
The road there, however, was difficult. She was constantly told that girls couldn't become firefighters (a "fact" that simply pushed Wilma harder towards her goal). In college, she fought to be accepted by her classmates. When she finally passed her test to join the firefighters, she discovered that the sexism she had always warred against had not abated. She was still steely in her resolve, however, and vowed to move from the pump truck (manning the hoses) to ladder truck (actually entering burning buildings) as quickly as possible.
Ten years later, her resolve has been worn down considerably, and she is no closer to her goal than she was...
